Description

The units for sale are
IMPROVED
reproductions of a
Columbia Eveready #6 A
dry cell for
radio service use
introduced in 1929 by the National Carbon Company (NCC).
The improvement is a simulation of the top edge of the zinc canister which was visible surrounding the pitch sealed top on the original #6 dry cells.
NCC marketed the first #6 dry cell in 1896 on the Columbia label, and was the sole source of this product for uses in home, farms, the auto industry, and telephone companies in the early 1900s.
The units are configured to produce 1.5V each with two D-Cell battery holders (wired in parallel), featuring
top entry access
for easy replacement of the batteries (not included) when necessary.
The tops are potted with epoxy under Black
sealing wax
which is similar in appearance to pitch used in the original production.  Cell d
imensions (6-1/2”H X 2-5/8” Dia.), weight (
2 lbs
. w/D-Cells), label colors and graphics, screw terminal hardware, and
cap enclosed bottom
are consistent with the original dry cell.
Additional units will be produced upon request.
