Description

Description
This vintage tribal jewelry choker that was handcrafted in the early-1900's for the nomadic tribes of rural Ghazni Province in Afghanistan.
This is an old Ghaznachi tribal necklace - not a new reproduction.
The wide elaborate neckband has 8 brightly-beaded large decorations with ornately beaded triangular terminals on the ends of shall bolls.
The lower border was generously fringed with colorfully-beaded links with loosely hanging bell dangles that clatter together with movement.
Sturdy ties on the ends allow for adjusting length somewhat.
Mild wear patterns and a warm age patina remain after decades of times.
About GHAZNI: Ghazni is a sparsely populated but important province located in the Southeastern portion of Afghanistan.
An ancient region, Ghazni province was a major Buddhist center until the 7th century CE.
It remains one of the most ethnically diverse parts of Afghanistan, with a Ghaznachi population that includes Tajiks, Hazara, and Pashtuns, as well as Sikhs and Hindus.
At an elevation of 7,000 feet, Ghazni province lies within the Hindu Kush Himalayan mountain range that forms the northern border of the Indus River Valley.
