    Description

    Fractional Currency also known as postage currency was first issued in 1862 as a response to widespread hoarding of small change during the Civil War. This first issue features brown printing and images of five cent Thomas Jefferson stamps on the obverse. Printed in five separate issues, Fractional Currency circulated up until 1876 as has proved to be very popular with collectors.
    The 10 cent note has two tiny pinholes on the left fide of Washington's face.
    The 25 cent note has one tinier hole in the "P" above the center image of Jefferson.
