INSANELY BEAUTIFUL MEERCHAUM TOBACCO PIPE - FACE OF A LADY - BEAUTIFUL PATINA- ORIGINAL WORKING CASE -
You are considering
an absolutely stunning 19th Century Meerchaum pipe in the original case. The smoking pipe belonged to a man who was like my grandfather and who was a major antique collector. He told me that this Meerchaum dated to the later part of the 1800's. I know very little about smoking pipes, but know this is gorgeously made example that contains a type of patina only a hundred or more years can create. The carving is of a beautiful woman wearing a floral bonnet surrounding her face and additional decorations beneath. The bowl appears to be in fine working condition as well as the stem. There is a metal section between the bowl and stem that has some finely engraved decorations. The pipe remains in the original case with a working hinge and the functional push-button closure. The lining of the case has a pumpkin colored velvet cushion to protect the pipe from damage. The two most amazing features by far are the woman's insanely carved face and the lovely tones of the patina. I am sure every tobacco collector dreams of owning such a lovely example. Good luck to my winner.
CONDITION:
Please view my highly detailed photos for the actual condition and as part of my description. The pipe is in amazing antique condition. I cannot find any significant damage to mention at all. The interior of the case has some areas of age and wear. The case functions perfectly and protects the pipe, however, some of the black leather has started to peel off the exterior. I assume any collector of fine Meerchaum's will be buying this item primarily for the pipe's beautiful craftsmanship and artistry. I will carefully ship this item to the winner by Priority Mail FREE of charge.
